When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Kimberly Rivers Roberts and her husband, cat, dog, and several other family members rode out the storm in the attic of their home. Kim filmed it, and the whole story was told in last year’s incredibly powerful documentary Trouble the Water. Kim is also a singer, and her hip-hop debut came out recently under the pseudonym “Black Kold Madina”. We’ll give a listen to it this week on World of Music, along with a bunch of new releases from all over, including Egypt, Spain, Tanzania, Argentina, and China! Listen to “World of Music” online (Mondays, 3-5pm EDT) or at 105.9FM in Burlington, VT.
