songs of freedom

We’re in a summery mood today on World of Music.

It’s a mostly reggae show for the day after Independence Day, including Bob Marley’s Songs of Freedom collection, the Blind Boys of Alabama (singing the classic I’ll Fly Away), along with Marcia Griffiths, Lucky Dube, Peter Tosh, and Lee “Scratch” Perry.

Thought we’d also check out some of the great groups who played over the last week at the Montreal Jazz Festival: Slavic Soul Party, LA-33 (from Colombia) and Red Baarat, the outrageous Indian funk brass band. Oh yeah, it’s gonna be a party today.

World of Music is a laid-back, old school soundtrack of blues, poetry, jazz, and international music every Monday from 3-5pm ET on the Radiator. Online, or at 105.9FM if you’re listening in Burlington, VT.
