vanishing fiddlers

I’ve been spending some time in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton recently. (Pictures coming soon.) Ever wonder why there’s such a tradition of Celtic fiddlers and bagpipers and culture in general, on the far East Coast of Canada? It’s geography: Nova Scotia = “New Scotland”.

    Hi Cheryl – Great job with the blog (and VPR). Re Cape Breton, you might find my CB research page interesting. It’s a few years out of date (and looks awful on my new Mac), but it discusses the music scene there a little in the context of CB history, politics, etc.
