triangluation of holidays

What an interesting day to be putting together a radio show. Yesterday was Halloween, today is All Saints Day, and tomorrow is Dia de los Muertos – in Latin cultures the ‘day of the dead’.

This week’s World of Music spends a fair amount of time in the Big Easy, with N’awlins classics like When the Saints Go Marching In, St. James Infirmary, and the St. Louis Blues. We’ll also stop off several times in Mexico, including music from Oaxaca native Lila Downs, and a traditional recorded live at an actual Dia de los Muertos ceremony. And Italy’s favorite indie combo Calibro 35 offers Death Comes at Midnight, an atmospheric song from their campy homage to 1960s and 70s noir films.

World of Music is a saintly, undead litany of blues, poetry, jazz, and international music every Monday from 3-5pm ET on the Radiator. Online, or at 105.9FM if you’re listening in Burlington, VT.
