gospel grooves

April 13, 2009

2009-apr12-sisterrosetta21

There’s nothing like the sound of a great gospel choir! American in origin, yes – but nowadays they come from absolutely everywhere around the globe. Later today on “world of music” we’ll hear choirs from Soweto, Oslo, and London, in a joyous song of Easter and springtime. Sister Rosetta Tharpe gets on board with her rocking revival collection, This Train – and we’ll honor Maya Angelou, whose April birthday is the perfect occasion to hear her read her own works and celebrate National Poetry Month. Listen to “World of Music” online (Mondays, 3-5pm) or at 105.9FM in Burlington, VT.
